Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) Florida Chapter. There are many ways to volunteer for our organization including special events, at support group, community engagement, or on an event committee.
APDA Florida Ambassador
Do you enjoy connecting with your community? Are you outgoing and like sharing information and resources in a public forum? You may be a great fit for the APDA Ambassador opportunity. Share the mission of APDA at networking events, presentations, health fairs, and more. We are looking for a people-person who is committed to APDA and working with APDA FL staff to develop a positive partnership throughout Florida.
Special Events
Special events are fun! If you are outgoing, courteous, personable when dealing with the public, dependable and a team player then sign up to be a part of our special events team. You can help before, during, or after an event. Duties can include assisting with registration, helping with parking, setting up and taking down signage, welcoming guests , moving tables, hanging decorations, or other tasks deemed necessary by the APDA staff.
Administration Help
You can perform a variety of tasks. This can include data entry, internet research, mailings, and other tasks as deemed necessary by the APDA staff. Computer skills are not necessary but helpful. If you like to take initiative, are detail-oriented, and dependable, we can use your help!
Support Groups
You can be a facilitator for a caregiver support group or a person with Parkinson’s (PWP) support group. Prior experience or a background in healthcare is necessary. Training will also be provided. Most groups are offered monthly and 1 to 1 ½ hours in length. You must have a professional appearance and be courteous and personable when dealing with the public. We prefer someone who is willing to take initiative and is detail-oriented. We look for people who are dependable and punctual. In addition, we want someone who is respectful and can maintain the confidentiality of APDA volunteers, partners, and donors.
Event Committees
Looking for leaders who like to raise funds, secure corporate sponsorship, procure items and bring people together for an important cause. If you are outgoing, dependable, like to take initiative and have great follow through then you may be a good fit. Your role is key in helping to make our events a huge success!
