ABOUT OUR SPEAKER: DR. STEPHANIE BISSONNETTE

Dr. Stephanie Bissonnette is a Movement Disorders Specialist at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA. She received a Master of Public Health in Health Law and Bioethics from Boston University before attending medical school at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. After a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health and a Neurology residency at Ohio State University, she returned to Boston for a Movement Disorders fellowship at Boston University’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center. She stayed on as faculty and is now an Assistant Professor of Neurology, where she sees people with Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders. She leads the Boston University Global Health Neurology initiative to Haiti and her current research and community outreach concentrates on the Haitian diaspora. Her current project is focused on developing educational videos for patients who identify as Black/African-American, Hispanic, or those with limited English proficiency with a focus on Spanish and Haitian Creole speakers.
